A mini lift is not as surgically extensive as a traditional lower face lift, but a mini lift can help you recapture some of that natural radiance you feel you once had,” says Dr. Hernandez. “Are you a candidate for a mini facelift? You are indeed if you have some relaxation in your face and neck and want to surgically rejuvenate certain areas of your face. – Dr. Hernandez
With a mini lift, Dr. Hernandez can take care of your needs and concerns about certain areas on your face, from the cheeks down. This less invasive surgery can help restore and recapture some of that youthful vitality.
In a consultation with Dr. Hernandez, you will discuss your objectives for surgical facial rejuvenation, the possibilities which range from a full facelift to a mini lift, which is less invasive and not as extensive
Dr. Hernandez will assess your skin’s elasticity, your underlying bone and soft tissue structures, and discuss any personal objectives you may have for seeking a surgical solution. In a mini facelift, the doctor may combine selected surgical procedures with appropriate non-surgical options, such as dermal fillers, (volumizers), fat grafting, and skin resurfacing. The final choice of procedure(s) to be included in a mini lift will be determined according to your needs and desires.
The scope of a mini facelift can vary from limited surgery on the face to include minor surgical work on your neck. The basic incisions for a mini facelift are the same as in a full face lift. However, the incisions do not extend around the ears as much as in a full face lift. A mini lift involves nominal dissection of the muscles in the cheek area, requiring only a small incision along the inside of the ear but still allowing Dr. Hernandez the access necessary to perform the modified procedure.
A mini lift may also be performed using an S-lift incision, which mimics the traditional one used for a lower facelift but does not extend as far behind the ear. This discreet incision just behind the ear is advisable if you play sports or tie your hair in a ponytail and do not have an excess of skin on the neck.
When you have a mini facelift in Dr. Hernandez’s outpatient facility, you will follow the same essential post-operative routine as a patient having a lower facelift. For a mini lift, Dr. Hernandez is always assisted by her specially chosen Board Certified M.D. Anesthesiologist and Registered Nurse.
Depending on the extent of your mini lift surgery, you may remain overnight in Dr. Hernandez’s accredited recovery suite. After the surgery, the doctor, with a registered nurse, will personally attend to all of your follow-up care. Some patients are able to go home the same day following a mini lift.
Dr. Hernandez always takes great care to ensure that the recovery period is smooth and comfortable. Recovery from a mini lift will take about two weeks or less, because it is not as involved as a full facelift.
A patient may experience a small amount of bruising, swelling, and slight discomfort following a mini lift.
Your decision to return to work or your normal routine will be made in consultation with Dr. Hernandez. It would be prudent to postpone any major event or strenuous activity for three to four weeks after your mini lift. Regular return visits with Dr. Hernandez will be scheduled according to your individual needs and recovery time.
