Facelift Surgery | Top 5 FAQs

Thinking of getting a facelift, but have questions on the procedure? Dr. Vivian Hernandez created the following infographic that includes the top five frequently asked questions on facelift surgery. If you’re wondering if you’re a good candidate, how the procedure is performed, or about recovery and results, this infographic outlines the answers. For more information, or to schedule a consultation, please contact Dr. Hernandez’s office.

 1. Am I a good candidate?

If you dislike your reflection or pictures that are taken of you, you may be able to blame genetics, time and gravity. In that case, a consultation with Dr. Hernandez will determine if you are a good candidate for a surgical procedure, such as a facelift.

2. What does the procedure entail?

Dr. Hernandez repositions the underlying muscle in the face and the neck, removing or adding fat when needed. She then removes the excess skin and redrapes it, making sure the incisions are inconspicuous. This allows for a natural, younger-looking you.

3. What can I expect during recovery?

Post-operative care begins in the recovery suit with a registered nurse and your continued care and progress is monitored by the surgeon. Every patient is different so the degree of bruising, swelling and discomfort varies. You can return to work in two weeks, but you should wait 3-4 weeks before strenuous exercise. Once the recovery process is complete, you’ll have a refreshed, rejuvenated appearance.

4. How long will results last?

A facelift’s longevity depends on the maintenance of a stable weight and healthy lifestyle. Assuming that, you should expect yours to last for 8-10+ years.

5. How do I choose the right surgeon?

Look for a board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in the specific area you want treated. Consider their experience and involvement in continuing education. See what former patients have to say about the doctor, the practice, and their surgical results. Meet with the surgeon and view their in-office photos. Look for skill, artistry, and genuine patient concern. If you’re comfortable with the physician, they’ll be right for you.
